About
erih+ is a unique journal index covering the Social Sciences and Humanities. We are committed to providing researchers with quality journals relevant to the European Research Area.
erih+ Mission
erih+ is an index for journals in the Social Sciences and Humanities, with a focus on quality journals across all European languages and countries. We strive to enhance the visibility and accessibility of journals, and we support their policies of openness and transparency in line with editorial best practices.

Our role in the research landscape.
erih+ is open to all journals in the Social Sciences and Humanities, regardless of language, size, or publishing model. Both niche journals and larger, widely read journals, whether open access or subscription-based, are eligible for inclusion in erih+.
We pay special attention to community driven journals, especially in European languages other than English. Our mission is to help these journals increase their visibility and reach, as we believe that they contribute to the diversity of the publishing landscape as a whole and to the progress of research.
erih+ is widely used by researchers, librarians, research administrators, and funding agencies as a reference tool for identifying relevant journals within the Social Sciences and Humanities. By offering a freely accessible and regularly updated index, erih+ supports both individual scholars and institutions in navigating the publishing landscape.
The community driven journals.
Europe has a rich landscape of community-driven, niche journals. In a publishing environment dominated by large publishing houses, these journals can find it challenging to gain visibility.
Our aim is to support smaller, community-driven journals in their efforts to strengthen their visibility and position themselves within the wider publishing landscape.
Open Access
Open Science is intrinsic to today’s scientific environment, and erih+ supports open research in all its aspects. As a member of OPERAS, we are committed to supporting open and available research. However, all journals, regardless of access model, are eligible for inclusion in erih+.
Multilingualism.
Many community-driven journals are multilingual or published only in a local language. Since non-English journals often face limitations in reach and readership, it is the goal of erih+ to contribute to their visibility. By facilitating multilingualism, we also support diversity in scholarly publishing.
Collaboration and network
erih+ is maintained by the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills (HK-dir) and is part of the OPERAS research infrastructure. Through this collaboration, we contribute to European efforts to promote open science, multilingualism, and equitable publishing practices.
