Approval Procedures

Receiving a submitted journal

The erih+ team receive the submitted journal. Based on the information available on the journal's website, it will be evaluated according to the Criteria for Inclusion.

First step of evaluation

The journal will be evaluated against our general criteria. If one or more of the general criteria are not fulfilled, the journal will not pass to the next stage of evaluation. The submitter will get a notification about the rejection.

Second step of evaluation

Every Criteria does not have to be fulfilled in order to pass the second stage of evaluation. However, our evaluators will base their decision on the totality of the Criteria, which means that the more that are fulfilled, the better are the chances of being approved. The submitter will get notified if the journal is approved or declined after this evaluation stage.

Third step of evaluation

In cases of doubt, the National Experts will perform a final evaluation based on their knowledge of the research area and/or their knowledge of the research publication culture of the country in question. The submitter will receive an email about the outcome of the evaluation.

Finalising the journal

All submissions will be evaluated in due time. Submitters will receive a response regardless of the outcome of the evaluation process. The processing time for new submissions can be up to three months.

How to submit a journal

  • Read the Criteria for Inclusion before submitting a journal.
  • Remember that all the necessary information must be publically available on the journal's website.
  • Please consider if the journal is relevant for European research or researchers before you submit. erih+ is first and foremost an index for European journals.
  • Log on to My Page. If you do not already have an account, please make one.
  • Fill in the submission form with the required information and submit the form.
  • The journal will be evaluated according to our Approval Procedures.

Points of notification to the submitter.

If the information on the website is not sufficient, the journal will be rejected for inclusion, and the submitter will receive a notice regarding which of the criteria are not sufficiently documented

In some special cases, typically if information on the journal is sparse or if there are doubts concerning its European relevance, the processing time can be extended. In such cases we will search for additional information about the journal through several sources, e.g. by contacting erih+ National Experts or other relevant information sources.

Before submitting a journal for potential inclusion, we advise you to read our ‘Criteria for Inclusion’ carefully.

If you are unsure whether the journal is relevant, you are welcome to contact us at erihplus@hkdir.no
